What does Locally Green do?

Locally Green is an online resource for restaurants to gain exposure by joining a database of local, green restaurants working to offset carbon emissions through their green initiatives. Locally Green works to educate the public and promote its members' socially responsible business practices and initiatives through online and offline activities and promotions, as well as networking and sponsorships.

The ultimate goal is to communicate how it is just as important to be local as it is to be green so that we can grow the local clean tech economy, create local jobs, and derive the environmental benefits right here in New England.

Why Local? Why Green?

"Green is the new black."ť And we support that. But getting an organic pear from South America is not more environmentally sound than getting a conventional pear from Stowe, MA. Of course, it would be better if we had organic pears in Massachusetts (which we do).

However, for these local, environmentally conscious businesses to continue to survive and grow, and thereby create a new self-sustaining economic base in the region, people need to know that they exist and also understand that there are choices they can make to support these companies.

Locally Green was established to help these companies thrive by connecting them to socially conscious supporters. Locally Green works to further educate the public about our members' socially responsible stance, and invites them to support our members and propel the green movement.

What can you do?

At the end of the day, it is you, as an individual consumer that can make the difference. By choosing to frequent our members' establishments, you are supporting these locally grown, “green” focused businesses.
